Emotion Motions: Musical Dinosaurs (Tool Required)

Development Level: Preschool/Pre-K

Overview: It’s time to move and groove to some dinosaur tunes while pretending to be dinosaurs ourselves! Support children’s emotional expression with this creative music and movement activity.

Materials:

• ECSEL Tool: Our Emotions Cards
• Two medium-sized foam dice (or blank foam cubes)
• Six printed-out images of different dinosaurs (size needs to match the sides of a foam cube)
• Scissors (teacher use only)
• Tape
• Permanent marker (if using blank foam cubes)
• Dinosaur-themed music (see some suggestions below!):
  • “We Are the Dinosaurs” by The Laurie Berkner Band
  • The Jurassic Park soundtrack
  • “Dinosaur, Dinosaur (Turn Around)”
  • Dinosaur roars, noises, and sounds
• Speakers or a music-player
